Yesterday we had a surprise visit from Walter. The commander let his class take a day off as their earlier two week vacation was canceled to deal with the constitutional presidential change, or coup as the American calls it. Walter brought a couple friends, had something to eat and played Nintendo. They showed us videos of their new training to be rifle ready in case of invasion by Venezuela and Costa Rica troops, which according to military intel, are poised at the Nicaraguan border.
Since Zelaya was removed from office, police and soldiers have been able to board incoming freight planes for inspection. Five planes loaded with narcotics from Venezuela have been confiscated since the "coup". The drugs were northbound but are used to stopping in Honduras where the former commander in chief had been paid plenty to let the planes pass. This is a firsthand source from our insider in the air force.
Walter and his academy class had to take time from the classroom and train to be foot soldiers, just in case. Today they resume their classes. Walter and his class of 30 are training to become jet mechanics. Once they finish their duty in the Honduran Air Force, they will have opportunities throughout the world.

Right now we have an abundance of zucchini. We are having zucchini muffins for breakfast, zucchini omelets for dinner, zucchini chocolate cake and lots of other zucchini stuff. Our skin is getting a bit of a green tint to it. The weather is so wet here that tomatoes cannot grow because of the fungus they get. Zucchini, pumpkin and cucumbers are doing pretty well.

The pigs are loving the mud. John thinks he's heard pigs off the back end of the farm, down the cliff. So, we might have already succeeded in introducing wild (feral) hogs into Honduras. The Mennonite corn crop might be taking a hit. With over 100 pigs, it's hard to keep track of them all. It's also difficult to keep them all fenced in.
