It's been awhile.

Last month was pretty busy. After moving into the new house and transitioning to the new modus here, I was able to procure some contract work that took me to Dallas for three days. I had about eight hours total to visit with a few friends. Joe Baugh picked me up from the airport and dropped me off at the airport. Mike Jones let me snore in his house every night. David Schmidt helped me do some blitzkrieg style shopping to fill up suitcases with books, spices and things we cannot find here or are very expensive. So now I have work for months to come and if all goes well, years thereafter. At the moment it's just enough to make ends meet after donations by friends, Restoration Church and Valley Church.

For a week we've had the cattle up here chomping down the weeds in the front yard. We had to move them back today. Our new bull felt challenged by our window and decided to give it a push today. I jumped out the door and whacked him on the round steaks before he broke through. We'd been wondering why every day sunny around 2:30 the bull was groaning, kicking the dirt and circling the house. It was only when we noticed that under those conditions, sunny and mid-afternoon, that he was angry with our house. Turns out that that time of day the window in the front of the house becomes very reflective. The bull thought he saw another bull in the house. If you live with cattle more than a month you'd know that every newcomer has to find his way in the pecking order. This bull felt like he had to establish himself as the bull in command rather than the one inside our house.

The boys started colegio (Jr. high, high school) today. Pray for them as the seventh grade here is when they try to weed out all but the most driven to get an education. There are not enough resources to teach every child here so only the best will go onto eighth grade.
