Subject: NASA Take Note

When Gerardo and I journey to the hospital for dialysis, our first stop is either "Espresso Americano", a Honduran equivalent of Starbuck's (smaller cups, much lower prices) or Dunkin Donuts. We make our choice based upon on which has shorter lines to the bathroom. Because of our semi-random sampling of the establisments and their coffee, we've made a scientific discovery: we've found a substance which has no melting point.

The sugar used at Dunkin Donuts in Honduras will not melt. The coffee is near boiling point, but it does not dissolve. We later tried direct flame, microwaves and nuclear fusion; but it will not melt nor will it evaporate. We're trying to tell NASA about the substance but you know those nerdy types; they just won't believe that something will not melt. It is our hypothesis that we could colonize the sun if we coated spaceships and buildings with Dunkin's sugar.

BTW, Gerardo seems much better after having the rejected kidney removed and being released from the hospital. He's walking around the farm right now. He's probably forgotten how mud feels after being in a hospital bed for a month. He gets his longest break ever from the hospital this week. Wednesday, Sept. 15 is Independence Day in Honduras, otherwise he would have dialysis. As it is, we don't need to go back until Friday.

Our kids are up and doing school today. Mennonites just came and pulled the van out of the mud for the fourth time in a month; so we have two vehicles again. Life is good, God is good.
