I wish I could say this was a first time occurrence, but that wouldn't be the truth. A relatively well dressed man and woman came and started walking around property. When I got down to talk to the couple, only the woman came forward, the man stood at a distance. She said a lot of things, but I have to admit that I got stuck processing her first paragraph and didn't continue to listen. They were looking to drop off their three children (ages 13, 10 and 5) here because they could no longer to care for them. The woman looked like she had permanent trama type damage to the right side of her face, and abuse is not at all uncommon here. If I were to draw conclusions I would say that the children were hers, not the man's, and the man was demanding that she leave them somewhere. She was probably agreeable because of the abuse he inflicts. But as you know, we can't "pre-judge" people and situations. :-)

Anyway, I told her she would need to go talk to the municipal judge or IHNFA, but that the judge would be better (less corrupt and faster). Honestly, we don't have the personnel to take in more kids because we are overextended now. Sure we have the finances and space for more children, but we already have four kids under John's care at night. In short, we don't have the parents to oversee twelve abused and neglected kids, in addition to our own children.
