Subject: Lightning

Old saying was that you can calculate distance of a lightning strike by counting the seconds between seeing the flash and hearing the thunder. Up here on the mountain, the clouds literally pass through us and sometimes under us. Last time I was outside during one of these thunderstorms, I saw lightning no more than a few hundred feet in the sky.

Is it any wonder that we hear the thunder before we see the flash?

June through November is considered Honduras' rainy season. This is our ninth rainy season. I don't believe I've ever seen it this yet. We usually don't see the mountaintop flood until September, but we're already in standing water.

Thank you Lord, for the rain. Not only does it grow the crops that your creation needs, but it also washes us, and powers our hydroelectric dams. :-)
