Today is another lovely, beautiful, peaceful day in our country. The power is out at home and I was warned in our last outage that it would happen again today, from 9 AM to 4 PM, though it lingered on until 6 PM and overnight last week. We are told they are out cutting trees around the power lines. Yes, I believe that. When I complained to the power company last week about not being able to do my job, they suggested I take a vacation day. I never wanted to reach through the phone and choke somebody so badly in my life.

So with little guys out of school and not wanting them to disrupt the school at home, I had the clever idea of taking little ones to the Wendy's indoor playground. In this environment, I'm offered the best of three worlds:

  • Kids can play
  •
  • I can work on free wi-fi
  •
  • Junk food

So let's talk about point number two, free wi-fi. It worked for about 20 minutes. I can still connect, but nothing is coming through the pipe. Something tells me they've employed some kind of timeout to keep people like me from hanging around too long. After about 30 minutes I went and bought some 3G modem time and returned. It's a couple of bucks to do that, but I get the satisfaction of loitering.

Kids can play, but so far Misa and Cindi have sat out about two of the total two and half hours we've been here. Within 15 minutes, Cindi complained about a girl pulling her hair and both decided to sit at the table. At the moment Wendy's is putting on some kind of birthday party in the same room, complete with pinata. This would be a liability nightmare in the USA. The stick is swinging everywhere. I am using my laptop bag as a barricade for my laptop screen, in case the stick comes flying out of a little one's hands.

In current events, Miss Honduras has been murdered along with her sister. Her sister's boyfriend saw her sister dancing with another man. He somehow got them alone, and shot both. I think we are safe here. I do not see the runner-up, nor her sister.
