Subject: End Times

We are accustomed to looking at this decaying world and proclaiming that the end is near. The whole subject sells books, scares people into making salvation prayers and makes good sermon fodder.

I have a much, much better indication of the end times...

Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Matthew 24:32-35

Believe me, I will be the first to look at what young people are being taught and growing up with, that the world is closing in on itself, bringing about its own doom. However, I saw something completely different in our brief travels in these past two weeks. I saw young couples giving all that they had, to prepare themselves for the mission field. I saw couples whom we had known since the first days of our marriage and were reminded of their children spreading the Gospel in Cambodia. I saw churches open up their doors to welcome us, which greatly humbles us, and also called upon us to step up our game.

And about the end times, if you hear some "preacher" giving you a date, don't listen, he's a false prophet. Remember what the Lord said about his own return:

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

Matthew 24:36-41

On occasion I've read what the world has to say about the return of Christ, that we've been talking about it for 2000 years and still nothing. "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."

Be blessed, and live like He's coming today. Be ready!
