Subject: Advent Day 6

This morning I was listening to the birds, cows, roosters, and stillness.  What a beautiful world He has made for us.  I sat in awe of His glory, the sun peeking out over the green pines all around me.

The reading that I came back to after the quiet was in Psalms.  Psalm 22:24.  "For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard."  Another version says He does not abhor the poor in their poverty.

There is nothing that makes God run away.  He is fully present to every hurt, affliction, moment of poverty, and need.  He doesn't turn His head from any one of us when we are needy or wounded.  He doesn't dash down the next aisle in Del Corral when He sees me coming, bloody and battered.  He is our present help in times of trouble.

I hold on to this truth as I wait this Advent.  Oh Lord, let nothing of humanity cause me to loose sight of who you are and how you love.

Peace in His beauty,
