Subject: La Noche antes Navidad (En Honduras)
Message:

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, except the twelve children and a cat and a mouse. The stockings were falling from walls made of stone. In hopes that IHNFA would not call on the phone. The children were wild and jumping in beds, while visions of sugar cane danced in their heads. And Paula in her jammies and me in my shorts, were hoping for some kind of rest of sorts. When out on the lawn there came such a clatter, I sprang from the bed and the roaches did scatter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the blinds and developed a rash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen rain Leaked from the roof and backed up the drain. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a rusty wheelbarrow, and a dog with no ear. With a little young driver, so lively and quickly, I knew in a moment it must be Enrique. More rapid than eagles his rubber boots came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called me by name!  (Don Marcos) And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof A wild skyrocket whose aim was aloof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down through the tile, the rocket hitting the ground. The rocket fizzled and popped but try as it might, the floors and walls made of cement it could not ignite. The roof with a new hole, the rain did now pour, I walked and slipped and fractured my leg on the floor. Enrique in a voice lighter than snow, Wished us Feliz Navidad in a language we don't know. He told us of goats chased by ear-less stray dogs, He milked the cow and slopped the hogs. Jose stopped by and to the boys gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out the roaches, "Happy Navidad to all, and to all a buenas noches."
