Subject: Reward Miles
Message:

For awhile now we've been purchasing groceries on our credit card and paying the balance immediately (as in, we pay same day) online. Primarily it is a way to make money available to us more quickly since the money does not have to be moved from our banking account in the USA to our Honduran account (30 day check clearing time). We also do this to earn reward miles in the hopes of one day having enough to buy an airline ticket or two back to the States.    Today I got an email statement saying that I had enough reward miles to travel. So, I was ready to give it a try. I went to the web site and requested a plane ticket from San Pedro Sula, Honduras to Houston, Texas. I had 16,000 reward points saved up and was eager to see how far that would get me. By my calculations, the airline pilot would have to drop me off over the Yucatan Peninsula or possibly on the Mexican Coast of the Gulf of Mexico. You see, I need 71,000 reward miles to get to Houston. It has taken six years to accumulate 16,000 miles. Based on that rate, I'll be flying back to the States, alone, in a short 20.6 years (that is if airfare never increases in that time). Or, I could save up and fly all six of us back in another 153 years. Hopefully the airfares won't rise in that time. It is possible we could have some in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren and more by then. Maybe they can watch the place while we make our visit.      Anyway, I can't wait to cash them points in! See you next century! :-)
