Subject: Some things are never easy to hear

This evening we were sitting down eating dinner all together.  Most had gotten up from the table and started on kitchen chores.  I was still sitting down eating my potato soup and David came over to join me (he was finishing his 3rd. bowl!).  He held up his paper napkin and said, "Tia, I never knew what these were for when I had to get my food from the trash.  I would find them in the trash, and I didn't know what they were. Now I am glad to know what they are."  Fernando joined in, "Yes, me too Tia, we never used these in my house."  It never ceases to amaze me when the boys talk about their trash digging days in such a casual, no problem kind of way.  I think to myself, I would probably have such shame, such embarresment.  They show none.  I am thankful that their hearts have been protected in so many ways.  I wish they had never had to find their next meal in a dump yard, but rejoice in the Lord that it hasn't destroyed them like I might think it would.   1 Samuel 2:8 (Young's Literal Translation) " He raiseth from the dust the poor, From a dunghill He lifteth up the needy, To cause [them] to sit with nobles, Yea, a throne of honour He doth cause them to inherit, For to Jehovah [are] the fixtures of earth, And He setteth on them the habitable world."
